The Battle Unfolds...

As war rages between the forces of Accord and the rising Ascension rebellion, the battlefield is shaped by warriors on both sides. With Lance Steelblade leading the charge on the frontlines against Asperity, the Knights of Accord were severely undermanned when the Ascension rebellion began. The Ascension took a number of strategically important towns before word reached the king of the uprising.

Thinking they had weeks before a military response, the Ascension commanders failed to act with urgency to strengthen their positions. Lance dispatched a small group of veteran knights, who, travelling with only the barest essentials in supplies and equipment, caught the Ascension unawares. These knights smashed through unprepared Ascension forces weeks before they had been expected. The Ascension commanders were sent scurrying while the group of knights who'd caused their rout were acclaimed as heroes of Accord, becoming known as the Paladins. With their decisive victory over Ascension, the Paladins earned the right to march under a unique banner in later conflicts.
